Replacement City From Nemesis watch tower Behind the blank eclipse "Donate yourselves and fall in line" Until there is no one left to sell the life divine Illicit as eyes and light Bend blind behind the night Internalize the prize and follow on With prayers to come upon the golden lawn It's gone In Replacement City Wherein you dream to be made In Replacement City Constant hours upon In Replacement City Where you will go where you're led In Replacement City Better ideas locked and gone The crackling rule book By the light of the blank screen And the lost gods sing your praises Note for note And it would still ring hollow At the corner of Norcross and Crow Our Anna's waking up All of the town, too Around you She's got a hurried mind, little time Or the town will come crumbling all around you (Mr. Seismic Jenkins missed his flight) To Replacement City Wherein you dream to be made In Replacement City Constant ideas upon In Replacement City Where you will go where you're led Replacement City Better hours locked and gone

about

Replacement City

From Nemesis watch tower
Behind the blank eclipse
"Donate yourselves and fall in line"
Until there is no one left to sell the life divine

Illicit as eyes and light
Bend blind behind the night
Internalize the prize and follow on
With prayers to come upon the golden lawn
It's gone

In Replacement City
Wherein you dream to be made
In Replacement City
Constant hours upon
In Replacement City
Where you will go where you're led
In Replacement City
Better ideas locked and gone

The crackling rule book
By the light of the blank screen
And the lost gods sing your praises
Note for note
And it would still ring hollow

At the corner of Norcross and Crow
Our Anna's waking up
All of the town, too
Around you
She's got a hurried mind, little time
Or the town will come crumbling all around you
(Mr. Seismic Jenkins missed his flight)

To Replacement City
Wherein you dream to be made
In Replacement City
Constant ideas upon
In Replacement City
Where you will go where you're led
Replacement City
Better hours locked and gone

"There’s a massive catalog of music coming from Mythical Motors, though it feels like its super easy to indulge when the project releases a great new single, like “Replacement City.” When the guitars rode into the show here, there was this satisfying vibrancy, like I was playing in a ball pit as melody rained down. Then the vocals kick in, embracing this almost arena power rock vibe, though they hide in a bit of obscurity, always maintaining their earnestness. It all circles back, then the latter half rushes forward forcefully, almost hitting you in the face with those big old pop hooks. You definitely can’t go wrong with this jam today!"
-Austin Town Hall

Sometimes Chattanooga, TN’s Mythical Motors is just main songwriter Matt Addison and other times it’s Addison and some other folks he’s gathered up (longtime scenester Mike Brown plays with him for live shows and occasional recordings). For this particular single it’s just Addison belting out, in his best Daltrey voice, the pros and cons of living in Replacement City.

The guitars churn and burn while Addison’s yearning vocals reach for the sky (or that box of cookies that are way up on the top shelf). I’d call it right where indie rock, arena rock and a power ballad meet up, chat and have a bit of a dust up, too, but in the end they’re all friends and head off to the bar together for a few drinks. Heck, Replacement City doesn’t sound too bad at all.

Road trip?

side note: Addison has such a backlog of songs that he’s offering a subscription of $5 per month to get everything the band does.

about

Mythical Motors Chattanooga, Tennessee

"With crashing power chords worthy of Pete Townshend, insidious melodies that you’d expect to find on a Clean album, and an offhand energy that’d make Robert Pollard green with energy, there’s nothing mythical going on here: It’s vivid, purposeful, and NOW.

Give Mythical Motors some love right now, so they don’t have to wait a few decades to get their due."
